ESC calls for urgent development and adoption of National Strategy for Bulgaria's participation in Industry 4.0, which defines objectives, routes and policies and systematizes the participation and efforts of the society to achieve the necessary degree of competitiveness under the new conditions. In connection to this the ESC also proposes to elaborate National Strategy for Basic Digital Training. In this way, young people, who will receive adequate education and participate in the labour market with relevant knowledge and skills, will be able to realize and contribute to the economic development of Bulgaria. This message is one of the main points of the ESC opinion "Opportunities for Development of the Policy for Young People in Bulgaria" adopted at the last plenary session in April this year.

On the eve of the summit in Sibiu, Romania, on 9 May 2019, when important decisions will be taken on the future development of the EU, the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council (ESC) adopted a resolution on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period 2021-2027. The resolution reflects the main positions of the ESC, addressed both to the European Commission (EC) and to the Bulgarian institutions involved in the MFF negotiation process.

The Commission on Labour, Social and Demographic Policy examined the Activity Report of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) for 2018 at its meeting on 3 April 2019.

Professor Lalko Dulevski, President of the Economic and Social Council, presented the activity of ESC for the past year. He highlighted the European focus of the Council's acts, consultations and discussions in 2018 and their relation with the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
