Dr. Milena Angelova and Dilyana Slavova, members of the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council and of the European Economic and Social Committee, were elected in Brussels for high positions in the EESC. Dr. Milena Angelova becomes Deputy Chairman of the EESC and Dilyana Slavova for the second time will head the EESC's External Relations section.

The long-standing Bulgarian traditions, social dialogue, experience and new technologies are a reliable prerequisite for the successful development of the social economy, stated the ESC President Prof. Lalko Dulevski in the International Conference Social Economy – For Economically Sustainable and Socially Inclusive EU. The conference is part of the calendar of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Bulgaria is one of the first EU Member States which have built a modern concept for development of the social economy in harmony with the European practices, stressed Prof. Dulevski and explained that the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council has a number of resolutions and opinions on the topic and actively participates in building the Bulgarian model of social entrepreneurship.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
