The President of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) prof. Lalko Dulevski participates in the fifth edition of European Forum on Social Entrepreneurship which starts today, 31st of March 2016, and it will continue until 3rd of April. Georgios Dassis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee, arrived in Bulgaria especially for the event in Plovdiv and together with Ivaylo Kalfin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy opened the European Fair of Social Economy.

The opinion of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) on the corporate social responsibility is a document which will be a basis for the elaboration of the new National Strategy for Corporate Social Responsibility. This was announced by Minister Ivaylo Kalfin at the discussion in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. He stressed the importance of the corporate social responsibility for the social development and the willingness of the Ministry to support best practices.

Solidarity is what Europe needs the most right now, said Pierre Jean Coulon - President of the Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN) to the European Economic and Social Committee. He made this statement yesterday at the conference in Sofia, which was organized jointly with the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria. The topic “European Energy Union - Impact and Consequences for Civil Society in Bulgaria” gathered together participants from Bulgaria, Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Slovakia, Croatia, Spain, representatives of the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Commission and the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council, experts, business representatives, members of Parliament.

The conference, which was discussing the “European Energy Union – Impact and Consequences for Civil Society in Bulgaria”, stopped its work and paid a minute tribute to the victims in the series of bombings in Brussels. The organizers of the International Conference Pierre Jean Coulon - President of TEN Section at the European Economic and Social Committee and Prof. Lalko Dulevski - President of the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria expressed their condolences to the relatives of the victims. We live in that sort of a world that we all need solidarity, Prof. Dulevski said. Mr. Coulon stressed that the force is always on the side of the good people who have good thoughts. Both of them also noted that at the beginning of the International Conference all participants agreed that Europe should all be united in order to resist the difficulties.

The Economic and Social Council’s Plenary Session at its meeting on 10 March 2016 discussed and adopted the ESC Annual Activity Report. The document received support by all participants in the session. It notes that according to the ESC Act, the Council elaborated and adopted three opinions, an analysis and a six resolutions on current economic and social issues.

MISSION

“THE CIVIL PARLIAMENT” OF BULGARIA

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
