The Economic and Social Council met graduates from two schools in Sofia within a study devoted to migration attitudes among students completing their secondary education. The ESC conducted this study for a second year.

In its last analysisadopted on 24th of November 2016 entitled “The Long-term Unemployment in Bulgaria” ESC examines the influence of the economic crises and the following recovery on the long-term unemployed and the long-term discouraged unemployed people. According to the ESC’s analysis the long-term unemployment is still being a serious problem even after the post crisis recovery process from 2013 – 2015.

The Economic and Social Council asked for a new National Strategy on Climate Change Adaptation which should correspond to European and global goals for decreasing the risks of climate change being relevant to the Paris Agreementon Climate Change by December 2015. That is one of the main proposals in the ESC opinion on “Challenges and Opportunities for EU and Bulgaria after the climate change negotiations in Paris”. Bulgaria is a country belonging to one of the risk affected regions in the world, it stated in the opinion.

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
