The President of the Bulgarian Economic and Social Council /ESC/ shall be elected by the National Assembly for a term of four years on a proposal of the Council of Ministers under the ESC Act. The proposal of the Council of Ministers shall be coordinated in advance with the groups represented in the council.
All organisations represented in the ESC of Bulgaria supported the nomination of Prof. Dulevski for President of the Council which was preliminary proposed by the Bulgarian government.
On 27th January 2012 the Council of Ministers made a decision to propose to the National Assembly the election of Prof. Dulevski as President of the ESC.
On 1st February 2012 the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria unanimously supported Prof. Lalko Dulevski for President of the ESC whereas all the Members of Parliament attending the parliamentary hall voted in favour of his nomination.
Prof. Lalko Dulevski was elected for third time in a row by the Bulgarian Parliament as President of the ESC with a four-year mandate (elected by the Parliament for first term on 17th September 2003 and re-elected second term on 18th January 2008).
He is President of the ESC since the establishment of the Bulgarian council and has definite contribution to its successful development following the model of the European Economic and Social Committee.

MISSION
is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.
The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.
The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
