The President of the Economic and Social Council Prof. Lalko Dulevski participated in a public debate on the topic “Two years after Lisbon-Europe which way now?” which took place in the plenary hall of the National Assembly.

“The recession, this is killing the hope of millions of young educated people to find work and to have a decent life in the old continent. Europe still does not provide an adequate answer and a message to the young people in regards to their future and practical realization, and this means lack of future for Europe.”

This was what Prof. Dulevski stated from the parliamentary tribune and greeted the organisers of the initiative.

According to Mr. Dulevski, the citizens of Europe need a more direct and active participation in the decision-making on key issues. “The inclusion of the civil society in this process will ensure the necessary public support for the structural reforms and the painful measures which have to be adopted”, added Mr. Dulevski. He concluded with the words “2012 will be a year of open doors for the ESC, especially for the young people in Bulgaria”.

The initiative for a sequence of public debates “European talks in the Parliament” of the Parliamentary Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of the European Funds is held under the patronage of the President of the National Assembly Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva. It is the first among the sequence of discussions which aim to include the citizens in an active and direct dialogue with the National Assembly on the latest issues from the agenda of Europe and the Bulgarian membership in the EU.
