ESC IS A CO-ORGANIZER OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AFTER 2013

On 14 May 2010 /Friday/, from 10.00 in Bulgaria hall of International Fair Plovdiv Congress Centre will be held a conference on “The European Union's Common Agricultural Policy After 2013 – Challenges and Opportunities”.

It is jointly hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee and the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian Council of Agricultural Organisations.

With this conference, the Bulgaria's civil society organisations are playing an active part in the European Union's public consultation exercise on the Future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2013, which the European Commission will be officially launching on 6 May.

Bulgaria's position on the CAP after 2013, as well as those of the EU institutions and the European civil society will be presented at this forum. The aim of the conference is that representatives of Bulgarian business and farmers to find out in details about the ongoing debate at European level and also to express their positions and expectations regarding the implementation of the new policy.

Representatives of the European Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Agriculture State Fund, the Bulgarian Parliament, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Economic and Social Council of Bulgaria, NGOs from the agriculture and food sector from Bulgaria and other partner organizations will take part at the conference and at the discussion.

MISSION

“THE CIVIL PARLIAMENT” OF BULGARIA

is the “bridge” between citizens and the national government. Its mission is to support such “bridging” so as to facilitate the communication between the society and the national government. It is the new and modern institution of the civil dialogue.

The ESC's mission is to promote civil society organisations access to and involvement in the process of decision-making on strategic economic and social issues.

The main goal of ESC's operation is to enable different representatives of organised civil society to feel free to state their views whereas unanimity on matters of common interest is encouraged. The Council expresses and protects civil society interests by communicating agreed statements and proposals submitted by its members to the executive and legislative authorities.
